Our Story

With nearly 10 locations, Jay Hatfield is one of the largest and fastest-growing automotive and motorsports companies in the Midwest!

Jay Hatfield started detailing cars in 1983 as a high school student. In college, Jay took a sales position and stayed in that role until 1998, when he, his wife, and two kids moved to Columbus, KS and purchased a minority share of a dealership. After completing a buyout from his partner in 2001, Jay quickly began to grow.

Over 20 years later, Jay now owns 5 automotive dealerships and 4 motorsports dealerships. With hard work and determination, Jay was able to move his way up to where he is today. Jay is a firm believer that EVERY employee plays a part in the company and every position is important.

“I began my career with Jay Hatfield in Mobility in 2008. I came from the greenhouse industry so this was a big step for me in a completely different setting. After roughly 18 months, I was promoted to the General Sales Manager and then eventually the General Manager of Jay Hatfield Mobility covering all of our locations. In 2014 I became a Partner of Mobility until we sold out in March of 2022. I am now at Jay Hatfield Motorsports of Joplin as one of the general managers. I can honestly say that Jay puts his employees first, providing competitive pay and excellent benefits. Jay has grown his footprint vastly over the past 14 years that I have worked here, but the one thing that has not changed is his desire and drive to make any Jay Hatfield Companies the very best place to work.”

"I began my career with Jay Hatfield at Chrysler as Service Manager in September 2021. Without any doubt, the Hatfield organization has been the most fun and rewarding to work for! I graduated with a bachelor's degree in the Automotive Technology program at Pittsburg State University in 2004 and was lucky enough to travel around the nation working for other great companies, but my heart led me back to SEKS. I am currently working in the role of Service Director for all automotive locations. Jay's passion for continuous improvement to create a world-class experience for our customers motivates me to be at my best every day. I feel blessed to work with a talented group of individuals at all locations!"
