Our Story & Values

The Pohanka Automotive Group has a long history dating back to 1919, when it started as a single-service repair facility in Washington, DC. Since then, our group has expanded to 21 dealerships in various locations across Northern Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC., and Texas. Pohanka Lexus recently underwent a complete showroom renovation, making it one of our newer, more modern facilities.

Our group was founded based on a set of firm beliefs, including making it easy for the customer and the team member, delivering excellent customer service, and establishing long-term relationships. These philosophies are what have kept us going strong for over 100 years, and make us the oldest continuously-operating automotive dealership group in Northern Virginia.

Awards

Having great employees also results in great achievements. The Pohanka Automotive Group has won many awards including the Time Magazine National Quality Dealer Award, the Sports Illustrated AIADA All-Star Dealer Award (for outstanding customer service, and commitment to the industry, the community, and the nation), as well as the Distinguished Service Citation from the Automotive Hall of Fame. Pohanka is the only dealership group to have received all three of these awards. In addition, Geoff Pohanka is the 2023 Chairman of the National Automotive Dealers Association.
