About Us

While our long-standing history stretches all the way back to 1919, our owner/operator, Sandy Angello, started her career with Pohanka Automotive in 1977 in the call center of our Capital Heights Dealerships. She worked her way through different departments and eventually took Pohanka to the eastern shore when she created Pohanka of Salisbury, with 6 dealerships in Salisbury, Maryland in 1999.

Since then, we expanded to 13 manufacturers and 10 dealerships on the Eastern Shore.

We have enjoyed many accolades across the years, including being named Metropolitan’s Best of the Eastern Shore for a dealership and service center for the past 22 years, as well as Coastal Style’s “Best of in Wicomico Couty” for over 20 years.

Community Involvement

Pohanka of Salisbury has donated over $3,000,000.00 to 750 charitable organizations and counting. Pohanka continues paying it forward every day to charities all across the Eastern Shore. It is Sandy’s belief along with our employees that nothing is more important than giving back to the community in which we all work, live, and raise our families.

Pohanka’s "Pay it Forward" program was founded in 2009 by our VP/Dealer Operator, Sandy Angello. Every year, we hold the “Pohanka Pays it Forward” Golf Tournament where each of our dealerships creates teams to compete for the “Pohanka Cup” and ultimate bragging rights among the complex. It's a great day of friendly competition and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. We also have our annual holiday party to bring together all 10 dealerships in a night of recognition and fun.

Another unique program that Pohanka offers is our 3-day leadership and development training. This program allows our employees to focus on themselves both personally and professionally. It is created to build communication, comradery, and a better working environment for everybody.
