Our Founder, Leonard Rydell, had many strongly held business and personal philosophies that served him well. These philosophies, known as “Leonardism’s”, help guide us through our daily business and personal decisions. Some of our favorite “Leonardism’s” are…

“Never take advantage of a customer, even if you can.”
“Put yourself in a position to take care of as many people as possible.”

“After about 20 years as a pastry chef, I had lost my passion for it. I never saw myself helping people buy cars nevertheless I enjoy working with people, so I applied for a sales position, at a different dealership. Being brand new to the job market and the automotive industry, I thought it would beneficial to reach out to a friend I knew from community events.

I contacted Richard, General Manager of White Bear Mitsubishi, as he was in the ‘car business’. I had no idea at the time his position within the company. A couple days after my interview I received a call from him. We talked about how the interview went and my first impressions. Then he asked when I could come and talk with him about my experience and what my goals for the future are.

After first walking in, I knew first hand this was the best place for me. f energy and inviting and everyone was helpful. While I have heard that car dealerships are a place where there is normally a lot of turnover but this place it seems to want to start and stay. We have a lot of fun at work it’s a family. Lots of events and be positively reconsider. The people and customers are cool to help people in all walks of life. It is more than just selling a car it is really helping people. If you like talking with people and having fun at work this would be a great place.”

“I have lived in 9 different states, moved from Montana to here [Minnesota] and needed a life change. From about 2012 I found myself bouncing from a lot of customer service jobs. While I was working at a hair salon a client of mine referred me to apply as a Finance Admin. I got the job and was approved to move to sales. I love it! I love learning about people's walk through life. The outreach this organization has is incredible and the diversity is unmatched from my previous employments. I made myself who I am and try my absolute best every day; here I get to do that.

There is Mitsubishi manufacturing training via computer and then you are mentored with other sales consultants before helping guests. The training time is paid so you know you are going to be able to take your time to learn. My managers are awesome, and they recognize talent here. If you are looking into a position, just apply regardless where you currently are or what you are applying just try it. You will get the training you need to succeed and generally they prefer to hire within; so, get ready to grow!”

“If you are looking for a place that is very open-minded in all aspects and want someone to believe in you and grow your skill set; you should apply. They treat everyone fairly and the core values of this organization stand true to who I am. One of the core values is: “Never take advantage of customer even if you can.”

I started my career at White Bear Mitsubishi as Detailer, then moved to lube bay, lube bay writer. I then graduated from college and was going to leave for a ‘corporate job’. The General Manager took me a side and said, “We have those positions here.” I was about 3 years in sales then became a Finance Manager. I felt it wasn’t for me, so they allowed me to return to Sales. Overall, I can proudly say what I do and who I work for… apply, it really is a great place to work. ”

“On one of my first days I saw the quote “Never take advantage of customer even though you can.” That to me made me know I was in the right organization.

I knew a friend that worked at a car dealership and he told me that it has good financial opportunities, I knew I wanted to work somewhere that was professional and stayed busy. The interview process was pretty laid back and the group of people I work with are easy to get along with. I think we do a good amount of training to set you up for success and help you along the way. You don’t need to know a lot about cars in the beginning; just willing to talk and help people. A lot of our success comes from who we work with; I am thankful to be part of this team. ”

“I grew up cooking and worked in his restaurant I wanted to get out of it. I was moving from a position of selling knives and a friend referred me to apply. I test drove a few vehicles before I applied to see how the company was.

I applied for a position that wasn’t a fit but knew it was a pathway to where I wanted to grow into. I got the job and started working in the Internet Sales Department. Looking back, I see it was a perfect career path as I learned about cars, processes and overall working with people. I enjoy the environment and the people. We take care of our customer here for the long term.”

Rob Schickert

“I used to work in the Physical Fitness Industry and was at my last job for about 12 years. I decided to make a change on my terms. A year prior I talked with Richard Herod III, General Manager, unknowing of his role at the dealership at the time. I checked out other dealerships as I wanted to make sure I was going to align with their culture and business. I didn’t necessarily want to get into the car business, I didn’t think I would be good at selling cars. I wasn’t even a car enthusiast.

There are so many other people here that don’t have the back ground of car sales, but they focus on helping the guest. This place really does have the family environment and people. If someone is sick or family members pass away, we all work together."

“I was a truck driver and proud to say I drove 13-million-miles accident free. It was scary to start a new career and industry at 52 but the way we were treated as a loyal customer I knew I wanted to apply here first. When you walk in and how it is a family feeling, genuine. I actually never thought of selling but I like the people and it has a natural fit.

My favorite core value is: “To be so helpful to be effective for others””

“I initially applied to work here because I knew someone in the sales department. I first met Richard Herod (General Manager) and he was very helpful and resourceful as he wanted to help me make the most informative. I used to sell Neurological Medical Devices for about 10 years, and it got to be far too much travel and just fell out of the enjoyment. It’s a fun place to be and you have an opportunity to thrive. When you start, you get paired up with a sales person to be mentor. It is nice to know you get to know a sound process of getting to know the guest first and then assist with them picking out their vehicle second.”

David Konopacz

“For the past 28 years I was in Medical Sales and I wanted to get back to having fun at work. Selling cars is fun! You have to be able to put in long hours as you go with the guests’ schedule. I had a few mentors and fell in love with the product. Initially I was concerned about the opportunity as there were a lot of sales people; but there are a lot of opportunities regardless. A quick note to the new hires applying: Be patient with the process. They hire from within so even if you don’t get selected for a job you are aiming for initially, keep focused with your tasks at hand and they will notice.”

Jonah Miller

Sales Consultant (Joined 2014)

“I started my career here as an internship. I move from Lot Staff, Detailer, Lube Bay Tech, Maintenance Writer and now to Sales. You have to feel good about what you do. I have heard that other dealerships just don’t care about their team members and focused on selling cars. Here they care about you. I am in the Army which aligns with one of the dealerships core values of giving back to the community.

To the potential new hires, there is room for advancement, this is a great place to work and not your traditional dealership.”
