Our Unique Story

Our caregivers truly make a difference in people’s lives!

We had a new client join our services. He is a 69-year-old male with type 2 diabetes, chronic heart failure, chronic kidney disease, heart disease, colon cancer and adult failure to thrive.

He was given 3-6 weeks to live, was mostly bed ridden, had given up on life and didn’t want to fight anymore. They were having to call 911 daily to help him up off the floor from constantly falling. Our Care Team was able to get him a new bed, started daily PT exercises, started Diabetic meal preparation and reminded him to take his medication. With a positive attitude and companionship, he is now up walking around with a walker and no more falls. He went out shopping and left his home for the first time in over 365 days. His caregivers now take him to the park 2-3 times a week and walk the paths and he loves it!

Chrystal was hired as a level 1 caregiver with no training aside from helping her family when she was 12. Through perseverance, hard work and training she helped create our Mentor support program and became a Mentor for the company. Mentors help train and guide new caregivers through their initial training and experience and continue to support them as caregivers for AHSS. One year later, Chrystal was promoted to our Care Advocate position and has succeeded in that position for over 3 years now.
