Our Team

OUR STORY

The Barnes family has been in the automotive business in Western Canada for over 40 years, starting in 1981 with Greg Barnes purchasing a General Motors dealership in Camrose, Alberta.

Over the years, the Barnes family has owned a variety of automotive dealerships with brands including GM, Nissan, Pontiac, and Harley-Davidson. These ventures have taken the family to many Canadian cities such as Camrose, Prince George, Coquitlam, Surrey, Langley, Victoria, Kamloops, Edmonton, Chilliwack, and Vernon.

We are truly known as a family organization; Brian Barnes has been involved in the business since 1999 and has carried out numerous roles in the various rooftops. Dayna Dueck, eldest daughter of Greg, was our Office Manager from 1999 – 2001 in our Coquitlam location. Greg Barnes continues as President and Dealer Principal of all rooftops and divisions for Barnes Garage Co., while Ingrid Barnes, wife of Greg Barnes, managed Marketing and H.O.G.® activities, but has since retired (2012).

Ashley Marks, youngest daughter of Greg, was formerly MotorClothes® Manager (Harley), and Business Manager at the Barnes Wheaton GM North Surrey store and is now the Barnes Garage Co Manager of Talent Acquistion and is leading the Barnes Family Foundation. Having spent much of his career in finance, Aaron Barnes, youngest son of Greg, joined Barnes Garage Co. as Chief Financial Officer in late 2020.

OUR TIMELINE

In 1988 the family moved to Prince George where a larger GM dealership became available for purchase. In 1992 the opportunity came to purchase Pacific GMC in Coquitlam, so once again the Barnes family moved, this time to the Lower Mainland, where they have remained ever since.

Since 1992, the Barnes family has expanded by purchasing the Ed Klassen Pontiac dealership in Surrey, the Don Carr Chevrolet dealership in White Rock, Barnes Nissan – Vernon (since sold), and in 2003, Southside Garage Coin Langley, which they then branded Barnes Harley-Davidson®. In 2015, the Barnes family expanded their Garage Codealer footprint, purchasing Steve Drane Garage Coin Victoria and re-branding it Barnes Garage CoVictoria. With this purchase, Barnes Garage Cobecame the largest Garage Codealer group (by sales volume) in Canada. In April of 2016, the Barnes family further expanded their Garage Codealer network by purchasing Kamloops Harley-Davidson®. In March of 2021, the Barnes family purchased Heritage Garage Coin Edmonton, Alberta.

This rapid growth puts Barnes Garage Coat the top of customers' lists when they are looking for the ultimate Garage Coexperience. Barnes Garage Cois now responsible for approximately 70% of all new Garage Comotorcycles sold in British Columbia on an annual basis. To facilitate a plan of rapid growth, Barnes Garage Co. was formed in 2020 to manage and control the Barnes Garage CoLangley, Barnes Garage CoVictoria, Barnes Garage CoKamloops, Barnes Garage CoSouth Edmonton, Barnes Wheaton GM, Barnes Wheaton Leasing, and BrapCredit rooftops.
