This office is owned by the married couple Ellen Smith, MA, LMFT, and Andy Smith. MS, who founded it in 2002. A few years ago, Andy's elderly father, then in his 90's, could not manage his own daily tasks. Fortunately, Andy's mother was able to provide him with kind eldercare caregivers, allowing him to remain in the comfort and security of his own home, considerably extending the lives of both his parents (Andy's father lived to 104). Then, when Andy's mother was in her later years, caregivers helped her in many ways (She lived to age 96). Ellen's mother's experience with in home care helped enrich and extend her life (She lived to age 96, also).
Ellen and Andy's parents' home care experiences with compassionate caregivers inspired them to dedicate their careers to helping seniors and others who need some assistance to stay safe and comfortable. Andy and Ellen and their talented and friendly Administrative team, and their compassionate Care Coordination Team, and, especially their loving caregivers (whom they call "Comfort Keepers"), have taken care of over 1,500 seniors!
About two years ago, a Comfort Keeper was promoted to the position of Case Manager! Recently one of our Comfort Keepers was promoted to be on the staff as a full-time Team Leader. Over the years there have been seven Comfort Keepers that were promoted to a Care Coordination team member! Comfort Keepers definitely believes in promoting from within.
Comfort Keepers gives back to the community having some of their caregivers participate in a program that helps homebound elderly people by driving a route dropping off nutritious meals. Comfort Keepers pays their caregivers, at their normal wage rates, to do so. Senior Concerns is the non-profit charity that Comfort Keepers partners with for this effort.
