About Evans Toyota

Building On Our Success

Evans Toyota was founded in 1955 by Dick Evans on the principle that the public is entitled to the best service possible in satisfying its transportation needs. In the year the organization was founded, we only had 5 employees working in a small building on Baer Road. We also were a Volkswagen franchise at that time and only sold 39 cars during the year. We moved to Brooklyn Avenue in 1960 and then purchased more ground at that site in 1962 and 1967 for expansion. Then in 1975, after 20 years with VW , the switch was made to Toyota. And finally in 1980, Evans Motors became Evans Toyota and we moved to Coliseum Boulevard.

The company that started as a tiny organization in 1955 on the outskirts of Waynedale has become an important factor in the Fort Wayne community.
