The Guidance Center is the only community mental health center in Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson Counties. We provide care to our clients regardless of their ability to pay. We offer in house training and didactics with presenters from the Kansas City Metro area. TGC is a great place to work to learn, gain experience, and give back the community.
In 2018, The Guidance Center had two employees that have continued their education and earned their Master’s degree and then returned to TGC. Both of these staff began in Bachelor level positions as Case Managers and are now in clinical roles. They also completed their employment based practicum with us while obtaining their Master’s degree.
Each summer, TGC hires approximately 40 temporary staff to help with our Summer Psychosocial Program for youth. Many times, the temporary staff will continue employment with us in part-time or full-time positions. Several of the temporary summer staff also return each summer for several years.
Giving back to the community is our specialty. In addition to helping community members each and every workday, The Guidance Center participates in Leavenworth City’s “Spring Cleanup Event.” In the winter, at our Holiday Party, we collect warm weather wears or non-perishable food to donate to community members in need.
