Starting as a single store, the Town Auto Group was founded by the late Tom Barros in the 1980’s. Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Barros first came to the United States in 1958 to study business at Fordham University in New York. During college, he began selling cars at a Ford dealership and realized his passion was to work with and for others. This job would mark the beginning of a long and successful, 50-year career in the auto industry.
In the early years of his career, as an owner of a single Toyota car dealership in Wenatchee, Tom built up a small empire under the “Town” name. Through it all, his focus was taking care of the people around him and serving his town’s community.
Later on, Wenatchee was looking for someone to purchase naming rights for what was then called the Greater Wenatchee Regional Events Center. Barros stepped up and decided this will be the next way he could help the community. Today, we call this act of service the Town Toyota Center.
Our company's success comes down to not just the way we make business, but how we conduct our business. It's pretty simple really--in kindergarten it was called the golden rule.
Our founder, Tom Barros said, "We should always treat our customers the way we like to be treated. We try to exceed their expectations by having the personnel and associates who work here take ownership of the stores and take good care of the people. We're pretty lucky that way. Creating that kind of working environment is critical to success, and it doesn't happen by chance.” He also noted that, “The most important thing is choosing the right people. You can always train them, you can always teach them, but the attitude needs to be there. Attitude and commitment."
Town Auto Group main core values include treating others well with honesty and respect, supporting the local town community, and operating with transparency as a company. If these resonate with you, join our thriving team!
