Our Story
We are locally owned and operated by Kitty Van Bortel, who in 1985 with an investment of only $500, began her used car dealership in the front yard of a rented house on Route 96 in Victor, NY. In 1991, she opened the doors to Van Bortel Subaru which soon became one of the largest Subaru retailers in the nation because of her drive to succeed and values-based approach to the car business. In 2018, Kitty was honored by Subaru as an elite Subaru retailer for the 27th consecutive year and opened a second Subaru location in Rochester, NY. Today is the next chapter.
