At the end of WWII, and after losing his political job because of a party change, Joseph Dockery, Sr., entrepreneur at heart, invested his life savings to start his first dealership.
While pursuing Lincoln Mercury as his next venture, the manufacturer insisted Joe Sr. have a partner and suggested Peter Sullivan. His comfort level grew stronger knowing that Sullivan had married into the McDonald Family of Wall Street - also related by marriage to a little known entrepreneur named Henry Ford.

Inspired by Carroll Shelby, Bob Dockery pursued his passion for racing and started a team running Shelby GT350Rs with Mark Donohue and Marty Kriner behind the wheel.
Joe Sr. didn't see the future in selling foreign cars. He often joked that when he saw a Mercedes on the road, "Oh look! There goes the other one."
Land Rover Roaring Fork narrowly survived the 2002 Coal Steam fire just 6 months after building completion.
Prestige was invited to be one of the first dealers to introduce MINI to the U.S.
